HSE Closed Bell

Approximate Course Duration: 3/4 weeks

Course price of £16,500 inc VAT only now valid until end of October

With our unique, sheltered location; facilities located on one easily accessible site and a deep-dive site only minutes from our pier, The Underwater Centre is able to provide year-round saturation diver training. Diving in a Closed Bell from our dedicated Closed Bell barge, Talon, training is completed at depths down to 100m (330ft) in Loch Linnhe, allowing students to dive in conditions just like those they will be working in.

Loch Linnhe is the sea loch on which the Centre is based and, thanks to its sheltered nature, training can take place all year round with few weather-related delays. The loch also provides life like experience in its tidal waters with varying visibility; including none whatsoever.

The HSE Closed Bell qualification allows you to work at various depths using oxygen and helium breathing mixtures (mixed gas) and saturation techniques. This is an advanced qualification which can only be undertaken by experienced HSE Surface Supplied (Top Up), previously known as HSE Part I, or equivalent divers who have logged a minimum of 50 dives totaling at least 50 hours, all in open water on surface supplied equipment, none shallower than 6m (20ft) and 20 of which must be over 15m (50ft).

The Underwater Centre also offers students the option to sit an IMCA standard ALST exam. Students wishing to do this may be given additional tuition during the decompressions. For full details, speak to your instructor when you arrive on course.

The Underwater Centre also owns a saturation diving system located in Tasmania, Australia, which uses the same HSE syllabus, teaching materials and instructors but issues the Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme ticket ADAS 2158-4. This is recognised by the HSE for diving in UK waters.
