Premium ROV Course (7 weeks)
Ideal for candidates with, or without, electronics qualifications, the seven week course combines all of the skills and training contained in the three week ROV Pilot Technician Course along with extensive training in electronic circuit design, test and measurement, fault diagnosis and repair. So, as well as the industry relevant flying experience and flight support skills you get on the three week course, you'll also gain the practical electronic skills you'll need to help keep your ROV in the water and working. The course contains a number of formal qualifications that are audited and approved by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). This means that you can be sure that what you learn, and the qualifications you'll earn, at The Underwater Centre are recognised qualifications that will give any employer proof that you've got the kind of skills you'll need in the workplace. ROV Pilot Technician Course (3 weeks)
This is an intensive three week course aimed at students who already have a good grounding in electronics. During the course, you'll fly one of our Seaeye Falcon ROVs, carrying out tasks such as closed bell diver observation, pipeline and mock-up rig structure inspections and sectored searches. These tasks will give you experience of the kind of tasks you're likely to be doing during the initial stages of your career. You'll also learn how to mobilise the ROV, create flight logs and interpret and navigate by sonar. Experience of these pilot support skills will help make you an asset to the ROV team you are assigned to. Your proven experience in these specific tasks will assist you when it comes to finding your first job within the industry. An in-depth course profile is available here.
