Have a go - join us for an 'Introduction to ROV Careers' Day
At The Underwater Centre, we run 'Introduction to ROV Careers' days. You’ll be given a tour of the facilities, the indoor dive complex and our private pier. You’ll also receive a series of lectures aimed at helping you decide if a career as an ROV pilot technician is for you. It’s the perfect opportunity to ask questions about the ROV industry in general, career prospects or any other questions that spring to mind whilst you’re in Fort William.
For many, embarking on a new career can be a difficult decision. Visiting the Centre and seeing the facilities for yourself, as well as meeting our staff, can help to simplify that decision-making process.
One of the most anticipated, and best, parts of the day is when you’ll get the opportunity to mobilise, launch and fly live – not simulated – ROVs from The Underwater Centre’s private pier. This can mean your first ROV flight may involve wreck inspections or observation of closed bell divers, an experience that can't be gained at any other ROV school in the world.
Pauric Kearney, who attended an ROV introductory day and went on to complete the Premium ROV Course, thinks this of the introductory days held in Fort William: ‘I would recommend the introductory day to anyone considering coming on course – ROV or diving. It gives a real insight into the course, what to expect, the location, pier, staff and instructors. Then, when you come on course you feel right at home!’
