The Team

At The Underwater Centre, we believe the best teaching comes from those who have specific industry experience; those who have ‘been there, done that’ and can give first hand advice on all aspects on ROV pilot technician careers and the industry.

Paul Bury, Head of ROV Training and Operations
Paul has 10 years experience as an ROV pilot technician and ROV supervisor and is also a qualified commercial diver. He has worked on numerous major projects all over the world and still works offshore a couple of times a year. Often, when he goes offshore, Paul finds himself leading a team, many of whom are former students. Paul has been closely involved in the development of our training programmes, thereby ensuring they're ideally suited to providing you with the skills that will help you succeed in the industry.

Rob Carswell, Senior ROV Instructor
With over 30 years experience as a Royal Navy diver, commercial diver and ROV pilot technician, Rob has a depth of experience that brings invaluable insight to the classes he teaches. Students often comment that, as well as the skills Rob passes to students as part of the curriculum, getting tips from someone with so many years in the industry is a huge advantage when they are taking their first steps in the industry.
