OFFSHORE TRAINING

DIVE SITE

Diving takes place from our 700m long pier or from one of our purpose built barges. Stretching from the seabed around the pier to the middle of the loch, there are a variety of structures on which to practice and hone your skills. The subsea structures include a simulated well jacket, a concrete-clad pipeline, subsea welding station and purpose-built NDT mock-up rig structure, as well as the only dedicated concrete inspection block in the UK. There are also numerous wrecks, including an armoured tank.

PIER

Our private pier has 4 dive stations where you will be trained in non-destructive testing, SCUBA and underwater welding, along with a pontoon for ease of access into the loch. In addition to the onshore welding bays and tool rooms, there are also additional classrooms on the pier and large changing and drying rooms, as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

The pier also houses one of our twin lock decompression chambers.

The facilities on the pier include our ROV control cabins together with Launch and Recovery Systems. For more information regarding the ROV facilities, visit our ROV pages.

BARGES

Our three purpose built barges are Air Diver II, Red Baron and Talon:

  • Air Diver II is a moon pool barge and is used for surface supplied and SCUBA diving.
  • Red Baron is also a moon pool barge and is used for surface supplied and SCUBA diving, plus it is fitted with a two deck decompression chamber rated for chamber dives to 50m.
  • Talon is a dumb barge specifically set up for mixed gas, or saturation, diving and is fitted with a saturation diving system with external regeneration unit and closed bell.
